The BLUE Flower Pin

Another version of the pin… I love blue flowers. 

I bought the fabric flowers from JuJu Crafts; a shop you can find in Etsy.  Click this link to find her Etsy shop here

 I began with a black, cotton sateen fabric I painted, embellished, batted and backed with more black fabric and Timtex stabilizer sandwiched in between for added strength, stiffness and durability.  

 I then used a satin cord for the edge; using a free motion zig zag and a pretty, variegated thread to finish the edge.

 Here’s a red one:


And…

 here’s the yellow one!

Embellished with a bit of black thread, free motion. An open toe (#24) free motion quilting foot is best used for this particular application as it allows you to get around the beads on the flowers.
