BONFIRE At SUNSET

“BONFIRE at SUNSET.”  Original, art quilt features a piece of my first-ever hand-dyed and painted fabric. Inspired by a summer bonfire on the lake at sunset, roasting marshmallows, telling stories, watching the ever-changing colors of the fire, lake and sky…

This one-of-a-kind hand-dyed and painted fabric features sunset hues in soft pinks, corals and soft golden yellow tones with a hit of chocolate brown richness as the sunset fades.

This piece is also completely quilted free motion style with bobbin quilting using thick metallic threads, silver metallic thread painting, free motion couching with  decorative cording, all building on the fire theme where additional silver and black threads meander among copper and gold foil accents, melding together with sparks of turquoise, red, pink and orange as the fire crackles and wood pops.  Really brought back memories of roasting marshmallows as a kid!

A soft, creatively curving binding follows the lazy line of smoke from the fire, as it collides with spunky sparks, floating upward into the late dusky night sky.  Original design . Approximate size is 20″ wide by 36″ long.
