dear heart vacation at flathead lake ~

hi friends ~

a few highlights of heart time spent at the lake with sweet friends… of course, we bring {just a few} projects along… because that’s what our hearts love to do ~ spending precious time together, laughing, creating, reading and relaxing… conversations about our faith walk, and learning to wade deeper into a life of grace… on every level… hopefully.  prayerfully.  sincerely.

i played {practiced}  writing long hand with a watercolor brush in my sketchbook.  i love the quote:

and then had fun blending watercolors on the front of my book, too!  but first, i put a bit of clear gesso on it so it would “bind” the surface  paper {since it’s not watercolor paper} together better… very fun!

and a journal ‘in progress’ ~ to which i added washi tape, doodling, and a fun little leftover “collage fairy” {from the tula pink fabric line} i had leftover ~ just for fun:

and a collaged tablerunner {as i took all my stash of cut pieces with me!} lol… as it turned out, this one went to the local polson quilt store, “all in stitches” as a class sample.  now that’s my kind of “working vacation!”

i also bought the background fabric from that store, as of course we shopped there, too as our dear hearts love to go the farmer’s market, and the quilt shop!  this fabric is a sweet little gray dot, slightly distressed.  i loved it!  i chose a color theme of aqua-turquoise, peachy pinks, a tiny bit of golden yellow, and pops of cherry red tucked in here and there, as well as black and white sketchy flowers… collage ~ so fun!

black and white flowers… make my art-heart happy!

i quilted it “grid style” with my dual feed foot on my bernina 830 machine.  easy-peasy.  anyone can do this to quilt a collage fast and fun.

{i eventually chose a cherry red binding, too}

and of course, i took the laketime vacation to take advantage of a precious model for my newly finished quilt, “storm at sea” ~ {i finally put the binding on it} or perhaps more of “calm at the lake” kinda thinking!!  lol.  my heart sister lisa sweetly modeled it for me.  don’t you love it?!  nothing like a lake setting for fun and inspiration!

and then… look here!  i let her play in my stash of pre-fused and pre-cut florals… and then she got to model her very own heart collage masterpiece, made from my pattern, “a heart to give” collage pattern!  i think they are both so beautiful!

and my little “gertie-chick” had a great time on the pebble beach! lol

have a beautiful heart-filled friday!

    I quite like all the collages flowers, both your friends project and the runner. Lovely.
    It seems you're keeping busy in retirement and are enjoying the summer,

  2. What a great inspiring but relaxing post. Luv the storm, and the heart and the running and flowing stream of ideas. You have been blessed!
