Idaho Inspiration

The inspiration for this quilt (and Summer Meadows, posted earlier) came from pictures I shot on our way to Lewiston, Idaho over Memorial Day.

We stopped by the side of the road to give our little girl dog a water and stretch break.  Those lush green meadows were just absolutely gorgeous!  And ‘look Mom – no rain’ !!!

And when I got home, I decided this was was the perfect hand-dyed piece of fabric that would showcase all those beautiful shades of lush green.

Bobbin play.

Free Motion Couching.

Curvy edges.

Love the gleam and brightness of the metallic threads.

Just like the green meadows glowing under the luminous clouds in those few, but super bright sunny minutes of that day.

Let your imagination take you to a special place with color.

If you haven’t seen the Bernina #43 foot… see more on it on my blog (everywhere!)  But you can see my best hints and tips  published in an earlier post here.

The beautiful hand dyed yarn  (that post here) I received in the mail last week also found a home in this piece.  Just the right colors, and free motion quilted in a large, open flower motif. In that motif, I also overquilted a bit with a variegated tri-lobal polyester… just because I can!  It was very fun to do!

Soli Deo Gloria!
