A New Vintage Log Cabin Quilt ~

MarveLes Art Studios Blogs 2 Comments

This charming quilt was made by by friend, Annette Schipf, and she loves vintage style!  She’s also one of those gals who loves piecing, and is quite excellent at it.

Isn’t this just a charming quilt?  A log cabin pattern gone vintage! Sweet, dainty prints, in a perfect setting of pretty, plain white fabric.  It’s one of two quilts I have of hers, and I am looking forward quilting it fr her.

I’ve got a few ideas for some free motion quilting … first thing that comes to mind is feathers, as a traditional and vintage style might best be shown off with that motif.  All white thread to quilt it … definitely, I believe, for the entire quilt.

But what do in the space that have the colorful prints?  More feathers?  Perhaps a daisy flower motif; taking inspiration from one of the prints?

Would you like to “shoot the breeze” with me on some other ideas for quilting this piece?

… dreamin’ ’bout a little summertime quilting!

EnJOY!

  1. I don't think I could suggest anything better. I like the daisies as there are some in the fabric. I think if you can keep the feathers sort of playful ( is that even possible?) to fit the feel of the daisies it would be perfect!
    It is a beautiful quilt!

  2. This is such a lovely, cheery quilt. I'd go whimsical. Daisies, canning jars(?), strawberries, lady bugs, that sort of thing.
