A pretty sweet setting for a quilt retreat isn’t it?!
This was the spring morning view as I dropped down into Holter Lake, to teach at my first-ever quilt retreat!
What. A. TREAT!
This scenic spot is forty miles from Great Falls, Montana.
It was a super fun couple of days, with sweet quilters, a gracious hostess, lots of good food, and companionship as well as a stellar location! I was honored to be there, and I look forward to going back! I met new friends from Australia, Texas, West Virginia, Ohio, and some local repeat students from Great Falls, and Highwood. Yay!
I always love seeing the creative goodness that each person brings to their collage!
{the owl is a pattern by Laura Heine}
Our most gracious hostess {above} Miss Vicki, working on her “Stitch My Grits” Love Bug!
I just love seeing all the cool license plates; these are from the Row by Row Experience fabric which features many darling sayings in license plates across the USA and Canada… and maybe even beyond!
While we had spectacular weather, we saw the weather develop into some dramatic storm views as well…
and a week later, i had the privilege to finish the quilting on this lil’ ol’ lady bug for my new quilting friend, Billie:
How fun for me!!
And so I say “Live Free and Quilt!” y’all!
Thanks for stopping by!

What a spectacular place for a retreat! The view is fairy tale it is inspiring to see what everyone does with a similar pattern. I love how you quilted the bug. Reminiscent of the 70’s.
I meant fairy tale like above.

Thanks Holly! Yes, the “Bug” is very 70’s, for sure, inspired from my childhood and Walt Disney’s movie, “The Love Bug” for sure. Also, the inspiration came when I photographed a black VW Bug, driven by my favorite quilt shop owner, too. And oh my goodness… it was a fabulous location, no doubt about it, for this retreat! Can’t wait to go back!
