Tula Pink ~ Chipper Quilt #1 ~ The Chevron

Hi there everyone ~

Well… I have been actively practicing a goal of mine since I retired a few summers ago:  Piecing.  I’ve always wanted to be a better piecer, and now I have some time to experiment, as well as the interest.

{and I do mean ~ “experiment” in the strongest sense!}

long story short, this is the quilt that resulted from the leftovers of my attempts with another quilt kit, and these are the half-square triangle pieces that were left.  I kinda mis-cut the first time {that quilt I will show later}, and so I had to order more fabric… {there are worse things, right???!}  So in the meantime, I played ~ and made a ‘pattern’ of sorts; one I have always loved:  The “Chevron.”  I made it up as I went.  And it didn’t always go the direction I had envisioned, but so it goes.  It’s still pretty, and I learned a lot.  Always a win-win in my book.  So from one quilt kit, {mis-cut as it was}, I have ended up with three quilts! Another wink right?!  🙂  {insert very big grin here}

and another experiment with some quilting too.  I’m kinda happy with it, but I hope to do better next time.  I wasn’t overly pleased with my choices for borders, n’ such ~  that will likely be the road I’m on for awhile!

The biggest thrill for me?  I used the half-square triangle Bloc-Loc ruler to help with the piecing, and it is an amazing tool! I will not only be a future fan of their rules, but an avid user.  I’m sold!

So here is the result of my mis-adventures, and albeit, happy piecing hours with Tula Pink’s new fabric line, “Chipper.”
